Procrastinating, Tweaking E-mail and Letters or Just Getting Bored With Too Much Detail?
We Can Tell You Why and What You Can do About It.
We include the I.D. System™ for business owners and their key staff from the very beginning of our ‘Business Evaluation Program’.
The results provide the human element of our S.W.O.T. analysis and is core to implementing our action planning going forward.
For example, one of my Instinctive Drives™ makes me avoid completing things - however this is a behaviour; a result. The cause; the WHY, gives me the insight to put a strategy in place to overcome the vulnerability. In my case the Drive causing this behaviour looks for flexibility, variety and spontaneity and therefore I get bored easily and am easily distracted. As a strategy I give myself a series of short, easily attained chunked-up goals throughout the day - a quick start and finish. Like a play broken into separate scenes I focus on each of the scenes separately.
My wife, Anne, is driven in exactly the opposite direction and procrastinates - if she can not see the whole plan; the complete picture; the whole play start to finish. Without the whole structure and time to finish she just will not start! We both outwardly are not achieving the end result but for totally opposite reasons. Results can only be achieved if we manage the underlying Drive.
A business owner, having invested in the process of change in the business, setting Action Plans which conflict with their natural ability to change is futile. We understand our clients’ I.D.s and we tailor our coaching and implementation approach specifically to their profile.
We then extend the process to the whole business team for them to apply the I.D. System™ to their spheres of influence - quite a revelation!
Not just a personality test
Your I.D. test result is not simply a measure of circumstantial or resulting behaviour. It is not a reflection of changeable ‘personality traits’. Unlike all of these, your I.D.™ does not change with your mood or in different situations or at different times. Rather, your I.D.™ is a part of you — and constant.
As your I.D. represents an integral and inherent part of you, the more you discover, the more empowering it is. Armed with the knowledge of what drives you, you can pinpoint your strengths and vulnerabilities and apply strategies for achieving greater fulfilment and peak performance in everything you do. Conversely you can also see why some tasks just don’t come naturally to you (even if you really want to them to) and why some things just leave you feeling frustrated, empty, bored or guilty. You’ll learn when you’re doing things against your grain and how to make appropriate changes for the better. In short, your I.D.™ serves as your instruction manual to personal and consistent success!
The four Instinctive Drives™
There are four Instinctive Drives:
- the instinct to Verify
- the instinct to Authenticate
- the instinct to Complete
- the instinct to Improvise
Each of us has a combination of these instincts which we are driven to use or avoid, and which lie at the core of who we really are. Knowing your Instinctive Drives uncovers a formula for optimising your health, attaining peak performance, energising your relationships and ultimately enjoying a fulfilling life. You will know when you’re functioning in your stride and doing things that bring you fulfilment and a sense of achievement.
Getting along with one another
Put simply, the I.D. System™ is a fantastic tool for helping us to all get along a little better. When we understand that everybody has their own unique I.D.™ it helps us to identify and deal with (sometimes delicate) issues without putting others down or labelling them. With I.D.™ there is no need to get personal or take things personally — instead, it highlights the fact that we’re all different; despite the fact that we may have similar training, upbringings or life experiences.
As well as opening our eyes to our own strengths, I.D.™ can also illuminate our vulnerabilities. When we know what they are, we can take steps to change our negative or self-destructive actions.
The I.D. System™ takes the guesswork out of people management. It helps managers to ‘get inside the heads’ of employees and truly understand what makes them tick and drives them to perform. I.D.™ can provide your business with highly effective strategies for building and managing teams, improving productivity, team morale and communication.
A number of my clients have rolled the I.D. System™ into their key management teams and staff - for more detail contact us.
